China bans children from playing online video games during the week.

Addiction to online games among minors in China is a serious problem. Not only do children spend hours on their computers, but a lot of them even use their parents’ bank cards to pay for games.

China has now decided to forbid online gamers under 18 to play on weekdays and limit their play to just three hours on weekends. Online game providers can now provide their services to minors only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 20.00 to 21.00. It marks a significant escalation of restrictions on China’s massive gaming industry.

Experts also insist that children should learn to quit or abandon a game, no matter their performance: “拿得起,放得下 ná dé qǐ, fàng dé xià” (‘able-to-pick up, able-to-put down).
